For suppliers

You supply packaging. Now you need to supply packaging data too.

More and more customers (brands, retailers, importers) are asking for detailed packaging data: material composition, weight, recyclability, origin. Because of Verpact, CSRD, TD 2.0 and the PPWR, they need to be able to prove it, so they ask you. Often from dozens of customers at once, each in a different format.

Why this affects you

Every customer asks again, and each time slightly differently: one wants an Excel file, another a PDF, a third their own form. You may well have the packaging data, spread across specifications, product datasheets and exports from your own system. What's missing is a system to deliver it in a structured, repeatable way. And sometimes the answer isn't even with you, but with your own supplier further up the chain. Packstract wrote more about this in this article.

Your role: supplier, and sometimes producer too

As a supplier, you supply material or components to a manufacturer — that's its own role under the PPWR, with its own obligation: giving the manufacturer all the documentation it needs to demonstrate conformity. Do you also sell directly to a business customer in another EU country that doesn't resell? Then you can even become the producer there, with the registration and reporting duty that comes with it. See the full PPWR roles diagram to see exactly where you stand.

We also work for the brand owners who are your customers. That means we know exactly what they need, and therefore what you need to deliver.

Five ways we help

What we do for you

  • Packaging data and gap analysis: we look at what already exists and what's still missing, per customer request.
  • Structured delivery: we put your packaging data into the format each customer needs, without you having to figure it out every time.
  • Collecting from your own suppliers: if the answer lies further up the chain, we go get it there.
  • Packaging optimization: advice on weight, material and recyclability, so your packaging itself scores better too.
  • Support with questions and audits: when a customer wants to know more or asks for substantiation, we stand beside you.

Who this is for

For companies that produce, import or distribute packaging, whose customers (brands and retailers selling on the Dutch market) increasingly ask for packaging data. Sound familiar: you get the question, but no system to answer it structurally. Packstract worked it out in the real cost.
